I have figured something out

Okay this is probably going to be a brief post without pictures because I just had a thought and wanted to share....and its probably something that nobody else cares about, but so what its my blog! *LOL*

I have been visiting blogs today and noticed that other people have lives - small children that require well you know all the things they require (I remember those times!), other hobbies - they knit or scrapbook or something, husbands (well he's been gone for some time now) and generally full lives...I work and I sew.

Mmmmm, maybe that's why I create so much stuff! *LOL* My attention is not diverted to other things...I mean I have children but they are teenagers who basically can fend for themselves and go their own way....and I have friends but their children are all grown now so we do grown up activities which don't seem to take as much time as activities with children....

So I sew...and when I am working I am thinking of ways to get home as quickly as possible so I can sew! See a one track mind! *LOL* I am heading back to SWAP land....more soon!

  1. We are very similar in this! I do not have children and I also have severe allergies that keep me inside year around. People always comment about how much sewing I do - but when it's the only thing you do, other than work, you accomplish a lot!

  2. I think I'm similar to you except I have no children and a low maintenance husband. I do have a high maintence cadre of pets. But I still don't sew as much as you do. I feel guilty right now, I should be finishing up on the wrap dress but alas, I'm at the computer.

  3. I envy your passion for and focus on sewing. And I wish I had a low maintenance husband, but all his other good points outweigh that small niggling fault.

  4. I only have to take care of a teen-aged DD and a cat. Both are fairly self-sufficient. Even so, I don't sew as much as I would like. I spend way too much time on the computer. I'm trying to sew a little every day.

  5. Oh I envy you! I wish I had a one track mind and was more focused. My children are grown and out of the house, my husband and dog are both low maintenance, and I still have trouble finding time to sew when I'm not working.

But I do find time to check your blog daily to see what how you've been spending your sewing time.

  7. Carolyn - with 2 preteens, 1 HM hubby, 1 lab, 2 geriatric cats and a FT+ business outside the home, my sewing time is scarce at best. But one thing I HAVE noticed is that, like you, the desire to be somewhere ELSE, doing something ELSE at work, has turned me into an EFFICIENCY powerhouse at work. No dawdling, no dithering. Focus, get the work DONE, and get out. These people that spend 11 hours doing 8 hours of work drive me crazy! ; ) It's all about the right motivation...

  9. I hear you, Carolyn. I'm single too. Gives me much more free time - if I can stay focused. Work exhausts me, so often during the week I'm too tired to sew. But weekends are dedicated to sewing. Housework? Harumph. Hee hee.

  10. I totally know what you mean. To the extent that some days I think I missed my calling and should have gone to FIT or something instead of becoming a teacher. My children, as darling as they are, just provide more excuses for me to make them adorable clothing!

  11. I also spend my day at work dreaming of the evening's sewing session. Recently I decided that in stead of making time to sew, I make time to do the household chores. Needless to say, the chores don't always get done.

  12. My Sewin' Sistah! I work at sewing or on fabric all day long, and I still can't wait to get to the machines! Laundry day is the s*ckiest day of my week, because it really does keep me away from sewing. Today was laundry day. Sigh....

  13. With a daughter and stepson in college and dh whose obssessed with anything TV/DIY related, 2 dogs and 1 cat... I am left to my own devices... lol.. which entails... a lot of crocheting, trying my hands at sewing, and whatever craft that catches my fancy. Like a poster stated above.. my crafts makes me an efficient powerhouse at work. I get to work early and tackle my projects with a vengence and look so forward to the ride home to dive into crafting. I am constantly teased by family that I am an introvert... when I arrive home from work on Friday... I dare not venture out again until Monday.
