Architectural Dress Update

Thank you to everyone who left a comment on the last post.  However, the post was intended only for me.  I needed to write out my fears/challenges/hurts so that I could leave them behind and move forward in the process of making the dress...writing about them allowed me to get past them.

I deliberately picked this weekend to make the dress because I knew how much time it would take for me to complete the dress...and that being said I've completed the front of the dress and am presently putting the invisible zipper into the back...moving on to the lining next.

The dress will be completed this afternoon...I'm through the tunnel and onto the other side.  I'm in the bright sunshine of Sewing Land and I'm happy once again.

I will have photos of the process and the finished dress to share later...

  1. Relax. It doesn't have to get done right now. Stop, take a deep breath and work on something else . . . but keep this to come back to. Even with a little work every now and then you will see progress and it will eventualy be finished. And it will be a real jewel to be pround of when it is complete.

  3. yay, glad to hear you're past the tunnel. I hate it when sewing becomes not fun. It's good to know it's become fun again.

  4. I understand when sewing isn't fun, but the feeling of accomplishment you get when you get out of the 'tunnel' is worth it. I look forward to seeing your dress.

  11. Speaking as someone who up to now hasn't yet even been able to complete a simple skirt in a weekend - I think it's amazing what you accomplish in 2-3 days!

Can't wait to see the new dress :-)

  13. I'm looking forward to seeing it! I do know what you mean about that tunnel - the point at where you throw your hands up in the air and scream "what was I thinking" then you gather yourself together and move on. I fully understand the window of opportunity to get your sewing done - I have tiny windows, and it's so frustrating when you think you won't have quite enough time! This dress will be superb.
