Inspiration

Many things inspire me to create...but nothing more so than the changing of the leaves.  I love it when they haven't all turned because the mosaic of color makes me want to run home and lock myself in the sewing cave to make beautiful garments from these luscious fall colors.

These pictures of trees were taken from my neighborhood....

...along with this claret wool crepe fabric will be the ode to my fall inspiration...

...as always more later!

  1. They are beautiful and so are the ones on the ground. I don't understand why everyone is always in such a hurry to rake them up.

  2. *Sigh* We just don't get leaves like that out where I am. I suppose not having leaves is sort of like a trade off for not having snow?

Either way, I love your dress inspiration - I can't wait to see your version, I know it will be fabulous!

  5. I hope you're OK after Sandy. Beautiful autumn leaves and colors is one of the things I do miss about northern seasons. Snow? Cold temps? Not so much.

  11. I love those colors too, especially the contrast of the deep reds and bright chartreuse and gold colors. There is nothing like it.
Your wool crepe is the most delicious color, and I can see why you were so inspired by the leaves. Gorgeous! That dress will be perfect for all the holidays, too.

  15. Please post and let all of us know how you and the sewing cave came through Sandy. I am sure I am not the only one who is worried about you.

  16. We had beautiful foliage this year, too. It's all gone now, blown down by Sandy. Though to be fair, the maples had pretty much shed their leaves already, and the oaks, which lost theirs during the hurricane, aren't quite as pretty. Fall is my favorite season, and I just love the light and colors!

  17. Hope you are well, safe and that your beautiful collection is dry! We got wonderful colors in WA state this year too. A long dry summer really made a spectacular autumn.

  18. New Jersey isn't looking pretty on our evening news and checking on-line Sommerset County has been hit hard. I'm guessing you're without power and hope that's the worst of it. If you're picking up messages - and even if you're not - LOTS of love and prayers coming your way. HUGS. Hope to hear soon that you and your family are safe.
