Pre-Fall 2013 Inspiration

It was not my intent to go onto Style.com and spend valuable time surfing through the Pre-Fall Collections for 2013.  Seriously, I don't need any more inspiration.  I have a long "Want to Sew" list and I even have my sewing list for my Winter Sewcation...but yet, I found myself there...ooooohhhhh and aaaaahhhhing and being thankful that I do have nine wonderful days of sewing bliss on the horizon.

This is what floated my boat today...

 Carolina Herrara Dress
...this makes me want to pull my embroidery machine out and go to town!

Michael Kors - lace dress & cardigan
See lace is still in next fall!

Ports 1961 - Dress with the border print running down the front

Naeem Khan Dress
His dresses are always so heavily embellished
but I think I can find a fabric that would work for this!

...and could someone explain to me why the Chanel collection looked like wenches in Tudor England?  There was a piece or two I would pull to use for a fashion editorial IF I was a fashion editor but seriously, what was Karl thinking?

Of course, Oscar didn't let me down!  So much of that collection could just be copied over into my wardrobe ~ especially where pretty and professional work gear is involved.  These pieces from the collection made my "I wanna sew" list...

Oscar dress & bolero
(I have the perfect fabric in the collection to make this!)

Is this fabric, embellishment or strips?

What a great knit dress!

Finally I did get started on the pjs and nightgowns will finish them up this weekend.  As of today, I only have a ToysRus trip and a Game Stop Shop trip to make and then my Christmas shopping will be finished.  So after the last of the pjs are sewn, I will be wrapping.  Yes! I will make it in time for Christmas Eve!!!

I have to tell you though with this new inspiration, I can't wait for my sewcation!  I think it's gonna be a good one!

...as always more later!

  1. Lately, I'm am having a visual inspiration party of my own on Pinterest, and my "want to sew" list is exploding beyond my capabilities. In fact, with the no computer/no TV pledge I've made with the kids for after school these days, it is getting easier to get more done. Let's hope I can keep it up!

  18. OMG. Love the Carolina Herrera. I'd raise the neckline some and lengthen the sleeves. That waistline would be gorgeous on a large (like me) woman!

  19. I can't believe the hem on the last picture. Either the dress doesn't hang straight from her shoulders or it's just messed up. I think the orange dress has interwoven strips to make the texture.

  20. Y'know, I think I have that exact same fabric from the first Oscar dress in my stash.... have had for yeeeeeeeeears. Maybe I should add that to my list and finally use up that fabric!
