Bloglovin'

Okay I don't use blog readers...just never got the hang of it.  However, I learned something interesting tonight.  After reading Lisa Laree's blog post and Lauren's of Lladybird fame, I thought what the hay, I'll go over to bloglovin' and register my blog.

Well the joke is on me because did you know there is another blog out there named, Diary of a Sewing Fanatic!?!  Really there is!  When I did the search to find my blog, the other DSF and a link to the Mood Sewing Network came up. I was a little befuddled.  It took a minute for me to realize that my actual blog address is different.  When I put that in the search box, up popped my blog.

Like I said interesting...anyway, I'm claiming my blog (Follow my blog with Bloglovin).  Though I do have a question?  Does anyone know if the Reading list that appears when you sign into Blogger is going away?  Cause that's how I presently read blogs and it's how the blogs I like appear on my sidebar.  So if anyone can provide any info on that I would appreciate it.  Otherwise, I guess I'll figure something out, bloglovin or not.

Thanks!

  1. So glad you asked the same question I have about my blogroll and I'll be watching to see what happens.

  2. My Google Reader was gone today on Chrome! I was so surprised, but when I logged into Firefox, it was still there. All I can see in Chrome for my reader box is an error :( I've transferred it all to bloglovin but I'm really sad to see Google Reader go

  3. I don't know either, but I'm waiting on tenderhooks to find out, for the same reasons as you!

  4. Yes I am also waiting to see what happens and I have noticed there are a lot more times that "I am not following any blogs" but then they reappear.

  5. My take on it, Carolyn, is that the blogger dashboard is not going away. I, too, read my blogs that way.

  6. Just a note for people who are not loving bloglovin--there are other options, including feedly (which is free and closely resembles google reader). There's also a helpful flowchart to help you decide which is best for you at http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/technology/2013/06/digg_reader_aol_reader_feedly_which_google_reader_alternative_should_i_use.html

  8. I'm no help with blogger stuff but I switched to BlogLovin' months ago and have grown to like it better than Reader. It took time, tho. ~Mary Beth

  9. I went to bloglovin and I love it. I like it better than google reader. And I tried 2 other readers. Though.... I really don't think you need to claim your blogs. It's not like anyone else can claim your blog for themselves. It's just advertising for bloglovin. Also they make it easy to find, follow, and unfollow blogs.

  10. Carolyn, I read blogs through my side bar like you and hope it isn't impacted by all this change! My question would be, if I don't register my blog with one of these readers, will it be hard for others to see my blog?

  11. Like you Carolyn, I read my blogs from the dashboard too so am waiting with baited breath to see what happens :)

  12. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's not at the cutting edge (no pun intended) on this issue. I have never 'followed' any blogs, but have a separate blog with the links that show the latest posts for each of the blogs I like to read. I'm waiting to see if that is a blank page sometime soon...not sure what I'll do at that point, mind! Probably get a lot more productive?

  13. Like you, I always used my Blogger dashboard to read other people's blogs. When I migrated to WordPress, I didn't get that option so I hopped on the Bloglovin bandwagon. I find that I really like the daily email with all the new posts and I can click directly from it.

Claiming your blog gives you the option to see when someone new signs up to follow it, which is really neat.

  16. I used to read all mine through Blogger, but there have been a few Wordpress sites and personal sites that I cannot add to it. So, I have switched to Bloglovin' and I could not be happier! At first I hated it because it was different from what I was used to. But now, I prefer the Bloglovin' format.

  17. Carolyn since I am posting as the number 30 commenter I hope you will get this. I have been following you for some time now and I had a problem when I was adding you to my blog list and I found out that your url is:
    sewingfantaticdiary.blogspot.com
    not "sewingfanaticdiary.blogspot.
Iam thinking this is the problem with adding your blog. Let me know if after you add your blog using the first spelling if you don't find someone else already with this name. Hope this helps.

  18. Your reading list inside blogger is different than Google Reader, which is a separate service.
