I laughed and cried! I loved that his wife Gloria used sewing to help her get off alcohol!!! Those outfits she made for her self and her husband were a hoot!!!

BTW the letter I wrote to Threads about the Ebony Fashion Show is published in this issue on page 10! I also want to make a sheath dress pattern - I hope to start this weekend - fitting will be tough.

I can't wait to see your version of the lace dress. I look forward to seeing the dresses you plan to make with the new necklines. I have read a great deal of good things about "The Butler". I think every American should see it but, unfortunately, those who most need to see this movie won't! That being said, it's got to be an Oscar contender for sure. Random thought - I love the embellished look but that picture of the Valentino dress on the model -- she looks like a concentration camp survivor. Awful. That girl has eating disorders, I've no doubt about that at all! Looking at that photo makes me a little sick, but you know, some young impressionables may visit you too and think that they've got get that "thin" (skeletal, actually) in order to "look good." Please don't take this as a criticism, but do you think maybe you could find a different photo of the dress and nix the one with the walking dead model? Okay, end of rant. Sorry. I just had to speak up about it.Janhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16575870809633911343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20705637.post-33170766207606927032013-08-24T15:45:44.481-04:002013-08-24T15:45:44.481-04:00I'm planning on trying the "scrap lace&qu...I'm planning on trying the "scrap lace" embellishment technique from this issue. It's exactly what I've been looking for to create a yoke for a dress with a beautiful wavy striped sateen! And, my fabric diet is going very well! I've hit the "20 yards gone" mark, so I treated myself to a couple new yards yesterday!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08126043161321731207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20705637.post-22328266915621224152013-08-24T15:09:01.819-04:002013-08-24T15:09:01.819-04:00Glad you liked the card. The period clothing/costuming in the movie as you know covered quite a lot of different fashions! For me seeing some of those from the '60s and '70s brought back fond and warm memories of close relatives alive back then. Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17713520345610962530noreply@blogger.com
