Today, when picking up my youngest from a Bar Mitzvah party in Scranton, I noticed a young man wearing a sandwich board on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street, collecting for cancer research (with a Penn State group). I bought him a bottle of water and gave a donation. I thought he might be thirsty after standing in the sun for some amount of time. Thank you for reminding us that it's easy to make someone else happy.Marjiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14950085029835332900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20705637.post-25697630511682020072011-12-03T07:49:31.566-05:002011-12-03T07:49:31.566-05:00Oh Carolyn, thank you so much for your story on yo...Oh Carolyn, thank you so much for your story on your ride to Moods. ~Valerievalerie carisellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05589804022687461395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20705637.post-42778319095789651972011-12-03T03:46:17.040-05:002011-12-03T03:46:17.040-05:00I was glad to hear your subway stories. It is often middle aged women who are the first to give up their seats! Makes me want to smack young men in comfortable shoes hogging seats right next to the standing pregnant, elderly etc. I can only give up my seat once, then all I can do is glare at the never do wells!
I am excited about your christening gown project. This one will be really fun to see.
I will miss Meg too. She was inspiring and informative and very kind. She was the first person to give me a chance and put me on her blog roll. Without her I would still be talking to myself!Karinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06551387452771116176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20705637.post-6706074839752818492011-12-02T21:40:13.123-05:002011-12-02T21:40:13.123-05:00I will also miss Meg's blog, though I understa...I will also miss Meg's blog, though I understand that life moves on. I've never had the chance to meet her and still follow her Garment District blog.

That christening outfit is going to be a fun little project!shamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06070023218199309005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20705637.post-75694625037854173592011-12-02T18:59:33.269-05:002011-12-02T18:59:33.269-05:00When I lived in NYC, I regularly surrendered my se...When I lived in NYC, I regularly surrendered my seat to an elder, person with small or many children, and others who looked like they could use a seat. Once while riding the bus, I had a bunch of stuff on my lap and didn't want to get up. The lady who stood next to me had a bunch of stuff too, so I offered to hold her stuff while she stood so that at least she could ride more comfortably. The bus was super crowded and she was very thankful. To do this day, I still help when I can - even though I don't live in NYC any more. I think that generally humans are good in nature. This good is only masked by heightened egos and fear.Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18384050927297629715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20705637.post-90430992986335427712011-12-02T17:43:54.235-05:002011-12-02T17:43:54.235-05:00I agree with you on Meg's blog.
