The Prom Dress is Done

Well its done and I don't know if I am happy or sad!

I just know that it is done and she has worn it to the dance. I am emotionally spent from making this dress! But she was very happy and she looked like a princess so I am glad that I made the dress. So I will revel in the fact that the dress is finished, and I will move onto sewing easier things for me!

  1. Fabulous dress, Carolyn! She looks terrific and was certainly as well dressed as any girl at the dance wearing a dress that involved a lot more money and a lot less heart. I'm proud of you and for you...great job!

  2. You did such a beautiful job on this dress! You daughter looks wonderful and so happy. Now reward yourself with some fun sewing (and maybe a great fabric purchase)!

  3. Yes - she does look like a princess! The color is glorious with her skin tone. I have two young daughters myself, and I'm really looking forward to Prom Night.

  5. She looks fantastic, and so does the dress. Very good job.

I wonder, is this what I have to look forward to in 10 years, and will I let Chungita wear a dress like that?

  6. Oh, Carolyn, Your baby is so grown up!

She looks beautiful. The dress looks beautiful.

I'm all teary-eyed and have to stop writing.

    Beautiful, just beautiful.

  7. Carolyn,
Your daughter's dress is lovely (as is she). I love that color!

It has been a long time ago since I made long dresses for my daughters. It was a lot of fun and I think they were always proud of them - at least no one else had a dress like theirs.

I haven't been sewing for awhile until recently and when I feel unmotivated I come to your site and read. I have really enjoyed reading about your sewing and it has been a great inspiration.
    Thanks...Pat from Florida

  9. She looks beautiful, Carolyn! I especially love the ruching in the back. Making a shirt for DS's prom was definitely much easier (and stress-free) but I would have enjoyed making a dress for a daughter. You are making memories!
