Sneak Peeks

I had a very productive weekend...not only did I get the dress completed but I worked on another version of my TNT Burda cardigan and the camisole pattern from Butterick 5146.

I also fiddled around a little more with the pantsuit...and have decided to add piping to the cuffed sleeves:

Thanks everyone for your very kind comments on the dress, which I wore today. It will take some getting used to wearing such a close-fitting dress. My dresses made from woven fabrics give the illusion of being close-fitting but aren't really. This knit dress was laying right next to my skin and I kept pulling on it all day because I was very aware of the fit. However, I am going to make it again...I'm thinking of using either a turquoise double knit or the black double knit that I bought from Metro Textiles to make a pantsuit...both fabrics have a little more body than the poly/lycra knit.

My daughter's babyshower is this weekend, so I don't know how much sewing I will get done...but I will be off on Monday the 16th so there is always hope!

More later!

  7. I too love the twin set. I think piping on the sleeves will be perfect. I love piping. You look wonderful in that dress. I don't feel comfortable in things that "fit" either, but you really do look great!

  8. Cute twinset! I know it's hard to change your dressing style and get used to a different feel and look. But you looked fabulous in that dress. Trust all the people who said so. I guess you're going to be sewing little things too in the future for the new little one who's joining your family soon.

  9. Okay, I will try again. I just posted a comment but did not seem to work.

    Love the cardi and top.

I am beginning to use more of some of my previously made patterns and the project seems to go faster. Partly because of less need to adjust for fit.

  13. A very chic set. I will tell you that poly lycra knits make me feel the same way, even when they are not close fitting. I don't feel this way with rayon or cotton knits.
Jealous here about how much you get done. I need more tnt patterns.

  14. The twinset looks great. The designer touch of piping on the sleeve is definitely a plus. BTW, I agree with everyone about the dress. The fit is becoming to you

  15. Love the use of the dress fabric from yesterday's post with the brown cardigan to create a custom twinset. You are so good at making fabric do so many different things! Congrats to your daughter, and have a fun weekend!

  17. Love the dress and the twin set. You look so good in that dress! You taught me something once again, prints, what a difference a print makes in a knit as compared to a solid. The solid just isn't near that kind. I love the way you handle your career wardrobe. Happy Grandbaby!

  18. Your garments are always very classy. You would make the "best dressed" list, I'm sure. It's nice to see women dress up. Good for you.

  19. I haven't met you in person, nor do I know how the dress feels or even really looks in IRL, but in the picture, you look much slimmer in this dress than some of the others I've seen. I think the same thing when I see you in slacks. I really like the brown dress, I think it's great and great on you.
Are you about to become a grandmother?

  21. OH have a wonderful time at the baby shower!

The twin set is really lovely. You do the nicest things with sweater sets and knits. I didn't comment on the dress previously, missed that post somehow, but you look really fabulous. You should make more.
