It's Back!!!!!!

Yes, it's been missing...kinda floating in and out when necessary...but can I tell you that the sewing mojo is BACK!  And demanding to be fed!  *LOL*  I don't know about you but I can tell when mine is missing because when I'm in the middle of a meeting, I'm actually concentrating on the meeting instead of doodling on my notepad underneath the table...daydreaming of things I want to make.  Or making a list and carting it around everywhere making notes on it.

So yes, I can't wait for this weekend to sew!  Ohmygoodness, not since before the move have I had the urge this strong!  I did end up buying the silver/pewter wool gabardine from Fabric Mart since the gabardines are 30% off. I went to find a picture but I guess someone else thought it was pretty too because it's all gone. The wool gabardines are 30% until tomorrow, btw!  I'm sure this fabric will make great basic work pieces, as well as, work well with the lavender felted wool jersey jacket.

On another note, my January 2012 issue of Lucky arrived last night and this Lanvin outfit caught my eye:

I had to go and look it up on style.com because I couldn't find it on net-a-porter. It's from Lanvin's 2012 Resort collection. Here's how it's photographed on style.com:

I have several awesome tweeds on hand that are easily accessible. *LOL*  I believe this outfit can be made using my TNT dress and skirt patterns.  My interpretation of this outfit will have longer (3/4 length) sleeves and a longer skirt (thigh length is really not attractive on me!)  I really want to make this up soon...so that it doesn't end up like my Salvatore Ferragamo obsession which got no further than the pattern making stage...*sigh*

Updated to add this picture from the Neiman Marcus site (thanks Liara for pointing this out!):

But my mojo is back so who knows what will come out of my sewing machine in the next couple of weeks!  I mean Christmas is coming, which means less time at work and two 3-day weekends...hopefully that will add up to alot of sewing in my sewing cave!  Enough daydreaming...this weekend it will be Christmas scarves and maybe if I'm industrious a little sewing for me too!

Next, Maria asked where I buy wool jersey online with international shipping.  I bought this lavender wool jersey from Fabric Mart and they only ship to Canada. However, Gorgeous Fabrics does have some in several colors and they do ship internationally.  Hope that helps!

Finally thank you so much to everyone who left a comment on the Christening Gown posts.  I so appreciate all of the compliments because making the dress and jacket was truly a labor of love for an adorable little girl.  I never had the opportunity to make my own daughters' outfits, they were all store bought, so it was a special treat to be allowed to make one for her...even if I did go overboard! *LOL*

...as always, more later!

  1. Thanks Carolyn for sharing a photo of the gorgeous moppet wearing her christening gown. How satisfying for you. Love the Lanvin suit, although I wouldn't have given the second photo a second glance. I think I will have to have a play with using the selvedges. I'm seeing a lot of that recently and I like what I see.

  9. I'm glad to hear your sewing mojo is back. Because you really inspire me! Mine is back too. And I hate to rub it in but I have the whole week between Christmas and NY's off. Guess what I'll be doing alot of? The gown is gorgeous and that little girl is so cute and so pretty in it. Someday I am going to get to NYC and come on a weekday and shop in the fabric district and hopefully we can meet, it would be an honor to meet the woman who's blog I stumbled onto and inspired me to sew again. I really missed sewing.

  10. She's beautiful in her angelic outfit. More sewing for children on the horizon? No big fit issues and I love that!

Glad your mojo has been found. I could sense its loss. But now its back and you are roaring. Move on!

  11. What a beautiful dress! I admire your skills every time I read your blog.

I've seen the Lanvin suit on the Neiman Marcus website. I do hope you sew it up. I was hoping to make one myself, but then I got stuck on how I would line it but still have the frayed edge.

I loved when you were packing...all the totes you had to hold your fabric...I have mine in totes too and thought I had a lot...mine doesn't compare to yours. To be able to pick out a pattern and fabric anytime day or night...we are soooo blest!!!! I love your new sewing room...your "cave"...it's really your cocoon...a place where you are surrounded by beautiful fabrics...perfect!!!!

  22. Beautiful, beautiful work, beautiful child. I too didn't have the time to sew like this for my own kids when they were small so it's nice to have the chance now isn't it?
