Construction ~
I've made this before using a woven fabric so I knew the cutting and sewing changes to make for this new version. The difference in this one, however, is that I used ribbon for the front band instead of a self fabric band. I used six 1/2" buttons for the front when normally I use five. I also put 1/2" shoulder pads in since I'm using it as a jacket instead of a cardigan. Finally, the ribbon band stands straight up at the back of the neckline, so I sewed a small dart on either side of the band to allow it to lay flat against my neckline.

ReplyDeleteI had to convert my tnt t shirt to get a cardigan that is essentially the one you are making. I love the ribbon for the front band. Two darts like yours made a knit band that didn't have enough stretch to lay close to my neck from a possible wadder to a wearable cardigan.
ReplyDeleteWhy in the world would we mind? I'd actually like more information on how you attached that ribbon. I was thinking it would be on the inside like a facing, but it's right there on top. Was it really wide? How are the raw edges of the cardigan contained?

ReplyDeleteThere is something I have been wondering about and would like to ask you. It seems you have a fairly large wardrobe, and I would like to know more about how you maintain it. Do you keep it all in one closet? How do you organize it (and keep from losing things in there)? Do you have a system to make sure everything gets worn? Are there things that you love and wear all the time? I am always looking for better ways to keep organized. Thank you!
