I thought I did a good job of matching the paisley print but now I'm worried about how it appears at the bustline. What do you think? Is it too bullseye? Will I need to wear it only with a sweater? Don't worry you can answer honestly. I'm gonna wear the dress anyway because the civilians will never realize! *LOL*

...and that's it! Besides a little stay tape in the shoulder seams and some stitch witchery in the hem, there are no other notions needed. That's part of what makes this dress so wonderfully easy to sew. That and the fact that you just throw it on and wear it out the door! So a few pics...
This is one of my all-time favorite dresses which is probably why this is my 6th version! I know I said 7th in my last post but I was wrong. Since this one went together so quickly, I looked around for more knit fabric to make another one. But I came to my senses and just moved onto the purple ponte knit B5760 cardigan that I've already cut out...so look for that one soon...followed by my big July project which I've planned out to a "T" I just need to get started on it!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! No, it's not too "bulls eye" either. Only because you said something did I look to see what you were referring too. Most people won't even notice that. The design on the back is perfectly placed also. GOSH, I wish I had time to sew up a wardrobe like you. Good job as usual.

ReplyDeleteI didn't notice anything bulls eye about this. I was wondering how you would use the fabric and sewn up it looks fantastic! You have made this pattern your own with so many lovely versions. I gather it is not lined but still sits & hangs beautifully. Another lovely TNT :)

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not! The first thing I noticed was how perfectly matched it was!!! I didn't notice your bustline at all until I looked for it. That fabric makes you look very slim...it's beautiful. Gosh, don't cover it up!

ReplyDeleteHonestly, it didn't occur to me as bullseye either. Maybe because the print has a lot going on and there is a centralized motif in the center. I don't know, but it works and looks great!!!

As the others have mentioned I didn't look at that area until you mentioned it - so no not 'bullseye' at all. My eye was drawn to the center front seam, both it and the back placement is very clever (love the blue across the shoulders).
ReplyDeleteThe first time I looked at the dress, I didn't notice a bullseye effect. The second time - my eyes went right there. But only because you mentioned it! "Lay people" won't notice.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you used the wild fabric, and I don't think there are any dreaded bulls eyes in the wrong places. Sure there are some swirls, but to my eye, they don't line up with any key points on your body. They are just a little offset.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion it's fine, I did not even notice any bulls eye tbh. I think if it wasn't paisley and you just had the twirly bits at the breasts than yes but because of the pattern and how it is distributed you are fine. Looks absolutely marvellous on you.

ReplyDeleteWow. You did a great job lining up those paisleys!!! Didn't notice the bulls eyes as I was mesmerized by the awesome center front where you perfectly lined up the big paisleys on the bodice with the skirt. Geez you are good! I am impressed. Don't wear a sweater. Its too good to hide.

ReplyDeleteI think because the paisley tails meet at the apex and do not form a circle you got away with having a large motif at the bust but no bull's eye effect. It also helps that you created that medallion effect in the middle. You are gorgeous and ready to go, sans cardie.

Wow! A stunning dress, and I reckon you should wear it out and about, definitely! I didn't think the placement was "bulls-eye" at alll, in fact it reminded me of the A McQueen and Prada prints of late.
