The Great British Sewing Bee

So another week of no sewing in the sewing cave...with no desire to sew...it's sad really.  The very thing that makes my heart sing and gives me a reason to live (and I kid you not - I don't care how sad you think it is!), is the very thing I'm NOT doing and horrors of horrors NOT even thinking about!

The only sewing thing I've been doing is being obsessed with The Great British Sewing Bee.  The second episode is here if you haven't seen it already...

...and reading every blog post about it that I can get to...

I've listed a few of the blog posts that I thought were interesting reads here...

  1. Miss Celie wants to be the next host.
  2. Yes I Like That had some interesting thoughts about the Bee.
  3. VickiKateMakes post made me think.
  4. Chanel No. 6's opinion about the elimination process.
  5. Ann's take on the age vs. experience conversation that's going on.
  6. Tilly's Recap of being on the show.
  7. Lauren's missing bits from the second show.

My favorite sewing board, which Ann Rowley is an active participant of, Stitcher's Guild has a wonderful conversation going on about the show, so check that out too.

...and in Great Britain Crafty Magazine has organized a blog tour touting the book that's associated with the show.  I found the blog posts halfway through the tour at Karen's blog, Did You Make That.  You should check the tour out!  Lastly, the book that's from the series can be purchased at Amazon.

That is the extent of my sewing or thinking about sewing for this week, although my GBSB obsession has filled quite a few hours and in my quest to see the second episode as soon as possible, to blow up my work computer!  Thank goodness for IT Techs!  *LOL*

Hopefully I will finish up the herringbone version of Vogue 1250 and my floral version of Butterick 5147, this weekend.  It will be nice to have some new clothes to wear to work next week.

...as always more later!

  1. Thanks for all the blog links talking about this show. I love it, but I wonder at it's appeal for non sewers. I love seeing Ann in action after having seen her wonderful garments online.

  2. If you can't sew - what better way to spend the time but watching GBSB.

I have downloaded both eps to my computer but haven't watched them yet. I am saving them up to watch several in a row (I'm greedy).

Enjoying seeing it take over the blogs.

Hope you get your sewing mojo back soon and make those lovely garments.

  3. I've been sewing a very long time. Since I was eight. And I suspect that's longer than you are old! I have been through dry periods. But the enthusiasm does return. I just let it roll. And watch my DVDs of Inspector Lewis!

  4. I have not had any sewing mojo this week either, but I don't fight it because I know if I try I won't enjoy my sewing and make something not worthwhile.

But I have been watching The Great British Sewing Bee (easier said than done in the US though...) So much fun!

  7. Thanks so much for your post. The book can also be purchased through Stitch,Craft, Create.(UK/British). They actually put the word out before the vids hit you tube. This site has alot of great sewing and crafting resources. :-)

  9. Is it your weather? The lingering coldness when sewing clothes beckon? I ask because I'm feeling the same bit in reverse - I want to sew with some lovely wool fabrics I've pulled out of the stash but it's still just too hot around here. I'm sure your mojo wil return and you'll wow us with some fantastic outfits soon

  10. Your mojo always comes back. Take a little break until it does.

  11. Thanks for the link. Yes, I was criticizing the format and offering some alternatives to the "win-lose" concept, not criticizing the contestants, all of whom I find appealing. Let's see how Episode Three shapes up. I know that there'll be an even bigger audience, thanks to blogs like yours.

  13. Love that show and glad you give us the links!
Of course it's sad that you didn't spend any time in your cave last week...or want to sew. Recently you said you had a new boss at work and a lot going on. Add to that the time change that puts a lot of us out of sync!!! You'll get your mojo back, for sure!!!
