Oh no! Hugs to you!!! I hope your precious fabrics and machines are OK. We lived in MD for a few years and I never learned to trust the basement sump pump. I guess they do work, but I was always leery. Take good care.
I don't have words either except so very, very sorry. I live in NJ and would come help if you wanted. Move upstairs! Your piece of mind is more important than, say, a dining room or master bedroom (lol)! Seriously, I'd help...
Best of luck to you with everything regarding this. I too know the pain of a cherished personal space with many dear things, flooded. (Twice.) Chin up, and do what you must so you don't have to go through this again. BTW white vinegar (1/4c. per gal. water) works miracles on "that smell". Here's to the next incarnation of your sewing cave!

I know how much having a nice sewing space means for someone as productive as you (and especially someone who loves fabric as much as you do!), so it's hard seeing your space empty and all of your fabric in bags in the garage. I hope things clean up faster than you expect!
I feel your pain! Hopefully, you can set up again soon, but it is probably best to get your wonderful stash out of harm's way. We in Maryland are hearing of a big storm coming our way and I don' t know if if will reach you but, if it does, you are prepared. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way!
I am sure you will find a way to make lemonade out of this lemon situation. Maybe you will find precious fabric that you forgot you had, or be able to reimagine marvelous garments as you are re-shelving. Good luck and get plenty of rest.
I am so very sorry. If you lived in California I would give you my sewing room for the duration. You are an inspiration and I hope one day I will have almost your skill. And, If I lived within 1,000 miles I would come help set it up again.

Carolyn, I'm with the others, wow, I gasped when I saw this post, My goodness. I hope nothing was damaged, so sorry you have to up root everything to clear out the water.
So sorry you are going through this, Maybe you could takeover a closet upstairs for the best stuff and store some lesser loved stuff down there. You could still cut, sew,press down there and leave stuff out in progress which is the messy space take over part of sewing. If a flood happens it would be easier to grab your machines than deal with all those yards of wet fabric-just a thought. We all hate to hear you are having to deal with this-hope you get the sewing room back to normal soon.

Wood floor? OK, I get that needs to be attended to (Arghhh). Fabric in bags? Hey, you've organized so well on the shelves you may be able to sew when the spirit drives you to face finding all the necessary notions and ingredients. Thankful that you've had time to sew up a goodly wardrobe and will not be Nekked in NYC. You've worked hard, maybe this is a break from routine that will show you some fun new things, but I hope we don't lose you! Hoping to see that great modeling and glorious smile again soon. Oh you poor baby! I hope you and your fabric won't be parted for too long. My lonely fabric lives in the garage permanently just hoping that one day it will be made up.
I've started a few sentences trying to find the right words. Praying all is resolved and comes together and gets back to normal asap. VERY hard. BIG hugs.
My heart hurts for you! I have been through the same thing. I finally moved my sewing room upstairs and sacrificed a guest room. Hope this "exile" is short-lived and you are back to making beautiful things very soon!
Oh Carolyn. I know seriously how upset you must be. At least you managed to save your fabrics, and hey, you can still keep sewing? I know, right now, you must be seriously depressed, but hopefully it will all be sorted out soon.
Oh Carolyn, I am so sorry the almost non stop rain here in the Northeast has affected your sewing cave. After losing a lot of my things to a flood in 2011, I 'm glad you caught the water early enough to save your precious fabric. Hang in there. You'll be sewing again before you know it.
So sorry to hear about your sewing cave. Maybe this brief time of non-sewing will give you time to plan and re-think what you would like to sew for the summer or maybe even for the fall.
Wow - you are a TRUE blogger. I would TOTALLY vanish from the blogosphere if I had to bear the emotional weight of such a scenario. What a wonderful sewing space, you have though. And once dry, you have the very best excuse to reconfigure it, if you like... all spankin' new and clean!
Oh, Carolyn... I'm so sorry... what a day-um mess! I vote along with others that perhaps you trade the function of that basement space with some other function and relocate your sewing studio somewhere else in your home.

Oh no, I missed this disaster. I had a flood like this a year ago and it is horrible. Such a waste of good sewing time too, that's actually the worst part. Hang in there.
