Sunday Night Fashion Shoot

I did manage to finish up the Brocade Blue Wool Crepe Jacket and Dress...it was a lot more work than I originally thought. Since the dress shell was already made, I wrongly assumed that it wouldn't take long to make the lining and install it...boy I was completely off base on that one!

There are quite a few special details to the dress ~ the lining that I made to look like a slip with a lace hem and the binding that I made from the brocade fabric for the neckline of the dress. However, I will give a full review of the dress later this week...tonight pics only!

The sleeveless shift dress alone:

The dress and jacket worn together:

The back of the dress and jacket:

Some of the brocade details:

The other item I started and finished today was the argyle cardigan from my Fall Top 10 List. I am wearing it with the Burda black knit dress that I made last year...again details to follow later this week:

The hem line on the jacket does match...I have it pinned together because I need to pick up fur hooks and eyes to close it...guess this means a trip to Pacific Trimmings this week!

I've decided to count the dress and jacket towards November totals since there was a lot of work done on it this weekend and not just finishing details. And of course, instead of following my plan, I started work on my version of the Dior Dress! More about that later!!!

  2. Great job Do you make muslins before you cut into your fabric because they look nice and the fit is good?

  8. I love your work wardrobe! As you can tell by my wardrobe, I usually wear pants to work. In my after-work part-time job, I sit on the floor with pre-schoolers! But your co-workers must envy your wardrobe. I know I do!

  10. You look so sassy in your new clothes!

I love all the new garments, but I have always had a special place in my heart for argyle. Since it's been back in fashion, I have been buying every argyle item I can get my hands on before the trend is over.

The brocade fabric is absolutely TDF - I love how that whole outfit looks on you. You're going to knock 'em dead at work!

  19. Another beautiful outfit for the work wardrobe. Your necklace and shiny hair are the perfect accessories for your dress. I'm so glad your weekend was productive. Four pants muslins and I've got nothing to show. :-(

  24. The blue dress is nice, but with the jacket, it's superb! Somehow, I thought you'd finished the argyle vest. I need a scorecard to keep up with your work, and I hope I'm not the only one.
