Navy Blue Wool Crepe Pants

In the continuing quest to add more pants to my wardrobe, I cut into the four yards of navy blue wool crepe that I recently purchased from Fabric Mart.  This was a really wide piece of fabric which allowed me to get not only a pair of pants but also a lined four gore flared skirt and a basic lined sheath dress out of the yardage. This post is about the pants.

I'm wearing these pants with an Issac Mizrahi cardigan purchased from QVC. I've fallen in love with these cardigans and now own an insane amount of them even though I can make a perfectly good one myself.  I deliberately chose the navy wool crepe to go with two new cardigans recently received because aren't they just cheery. Great color to add to dreary winter days!

All of the information in the last post applies to these pants since they were made the exact same way.  The only thing I omitted from that post was that the fabric was pretreated using the Pam Ermy method.  It's quick, does the job and allows me to get right to sewing.  I made these pants Saturday and took the pictures on Sunday afternoon.

Again all pictures are taken by me using the Canon and the tripod. Woohoo!  I seem to know only two poses now that I'm taking my own shots but I'm gonna work on that! *LOL*  Anyway another pair of pants finished and ready to be worn to work.  It was a good sewing weekend...

...as always more later!

  12. Love! I think your photos are nice and bright and focused.

Now, I got a cut of fabric from FM that was uncharacteristically wide; I was almost able to lay my front and back pieces side by side. This made me very happy. I think I can get a straight skirt from the remainder, using a pattern that allows for color blocking.

  18. The cardigan is gorgeous. Cannot imagine how I missed that on QVC. I love the pants and the fabric and the color. Navy is my neutral and I just love how beautifully that fabric works up into slacks. Now I must look up the method you mentioned for pre-treating. Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration. Your poses are perfect and show us what we need to see in a garment.

  23. I love those slacks. Wool crepe is a great fabric to work with and so easy to care for. I know you're glad you were able to get so many items out of this one 4 yard cut. So... when are we going to see the other pieces?

  25. I *LURVE* wool crepe. I could sew wool crepe for ever and ever and never get tired of it. What a great pair of trousers - and I love the plaid pair you blogged earlier. How nice to have a TNT - it makes it so much faster to make a new garment. And kudos on your tripod shots!
