Without further ado, me wearing the jacket ~
I styled it with my RTW ponte jean leggings, a t-shirt that I made (more on that later!) and the jacket ~
A few pics of the jacket, t-shirt and a straight elastic-waist black ponte skirt that I made to go with the jacket. The skirt was made from my TNT skirt pattern and filled a hole in my new casual wardrobe.
Wow! All three pieces made by me...yes!
This was one of the first outfits I wore to work after the sewing vacay and I loved it! It was perfect for those cold Mondays when it takes a minute for the heat to come back on in office buildings. Oh and I wore the leggings with the jacket not the skirt.
Just wanted to close the loop on that one and show you how I wore it. More new sewing posts up next!

DeleteThe jacket really steps up your casual wardrobe for work. Looks great with the leggings and the skirt. That third piece really pulls everything together as well as keeping you warm. Nice look.

DeleteYou have inspired me to get back to a jacket I wanted to sew and wear this year but was sidetracked to make Christmas gifts and now need to concentrate on making my quilted jacket. ReplyDeleteJB - there are a lot of sites for those quilts and I had to sort though a lot of quilts to get such a sedate pattern. So I hope you're looking for your quilt and not leaving it to chance! Either way, I hope you get an amazing Kantha Quilt for Christmas!

DeleteLooks like "the jacket" has it's own fan club. Lol... I too would like to join. I gravitate towards jackets also. I really enjoy them. Although it has to be the "right" one. I'm short waisted and have all of about 1 inch between my ribs and waist. So, a shorter one looks better on me. The fabric although you said is from India looks similar to the kimono fabrics from Japan. Cozy comfy soft too. Enjoy... it looks lovely.

DeleteYou know your comment that non-sewers don't have any idea of how much work is involved in creating a well made garment was totally on point! They seem to think that it all occurs through magic! On a side note....... how do you deal with 'alteration hounds', you know people who are constantly begging to have something fixed, shortened or taken in and of course you should either do it free or for practically nothing!!
ReplyDeleteI just say NO! No I don't sew for others. No I don't do alterations. No I don't want to sew for a living and make a little bit of money and deal with people's attitudes. No, no, no! And I have mad RESPECT for people who do sew for others - y'all are amazing!
