Anyway, we are still in the process of loading shelves...before my daughter leaves to go home to her family...especially since I'm calmer now...I just wanted to give a short intro before I let the pictures speak for themselves...
emptying the bins out of the room
the cutting table in pieces
the shelves built and waiting for fabric
The migration has begun!
There will be no sewing going on this weekend. I don't want to try to rush this process. I just want to get the fabric placed on the shelves and the furniture back in place so that my sewing cave is once again the calm, restful retreat that it was before I began this journey.
...as always, more later!
you are off to a good start!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the process, and visiting with all your fabric. I am sure you will get a ton of ideas for future projects.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to seeing it finished AND showing a picture of it to my husband while exclaiming "see I don't have that much!" 8-)
I too am looking forward to the ig reveal. It would be so ice to see one's fabrics stacken and sorted instead of tucked away in bins and bags.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!!
Looks good, but fm a safety perspective, I was wondering if you're planning to fasten those shelves to the wall?
ReplyDeleteHard work but will be SOOOOO worth it in the end.
ReplyDeleteGood luck... just think, you will be touching every piece of fabric in your collection! LoL... what's not to like?
ReplyDeleteYou will need a full days rest after you are finished, but I know you are glad you have it all.
ReplyDeleteLooking good. Looks like you're color coding. I did this a few weeks ago with just my quilt fabric, and you will see things you had totally forgotten and things that you will wonder why you bought it.
ReplyDeleteIn short it is an adventure and you will enjoy the journey.
How exciting and fun! I love that shelving. I have my fabric in bins also, and use the shelves I have to put the bins on. Also though need to use the shelving to store other things in my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be brilliant once it is all sorted and finished - lucky you!!! Then you can take a big deep breath, and start the sewing up again...
ReplyDeleteEven with only one full shelf there are so many tantalizing options! I can't wait to see the finished results. And don't rush the process - enjoy the wall of awesome you are about to create, as I am sure you will end up being the envy of every seamstress on the internet.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea. Are you going to do it by color?
ReplyDeleteThis is something I would love to do. Good luck and have fun!
ReplyDeleteCan I go shopping at your fabric store once it's all together!!!!LOL
ReplyDeleteOoo, I wish I was there to help - organizing fabric - pure heaven!!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing with my fabric. To keep the dust off I hung some curtains around the sides and front. You're going to love looking at all your fabric!
ReplyDeleteI understand about not wanting to sew until the cave is put together. I'm the one who would take a day off work to get things together. That, or stay up well past my bedtime.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be fantastic, Carolyn! Enjoy the journey/process as you lovingly put each piece of fabric in its place. There will be plenty of time to sew when it's done.
ReplyDeleteI love it I love it, and it will be so good to be able to sit and see all your fabric on your shelves. Going through your fabric will be fun and apt to give you new ideas.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll find that it goes faster than you expected; so you may get some sewing in on this work hiatus.
ReplyDeleteI think I bought 3 sets of the exact same shelves last week! Unfortunately, I need them for things besides fabric so my fabrics will remain boxed. The shelves seem plenty sturdy enough without fastening them to the wall but then I don't have small children to worry about. I'm looking forward to the day I can get my fabric on the shelves!
