The last weekend of September I flew to Houston to stay with one of my bestest friends who is recovering from breast cancer. So just drips and drabs of sewing here and there.
The last shirt I worked on still needs buttons...
...and the sweater & pleather Madison Cardigan that needed the sleeve hems is still waiting to be finished.
I started another shirt...
...and I promised a friend at work a dress to use as the basis of her Halloween costume. It's been made and this weekend I will work on the fit and finishing...
So there is some sewing going on but nothing cohesive, bloggable or instagrammable.
Thank you to those of you who reached out to me. Honestly if it was something more than work, I would have posted about it on the blog. So if I disappear for a couple of weeks in the future and don't say anything - don't worry it's definitely work related. LOL!
...as always more later!
Glad all is well. Love your red shirt. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you find the butterfly fabric? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy friend bought it on Spoonflower.
DeleteSo nice to see you back, and glad all is OK. Your red check shirt is Amazing! You are genius at combining fabrics. I know the next shirt will also be brilliant, and the Halloween dress looks a treat.
ReplyDeleteLove the red shirt and the other shirt. Its always such a pain when work gets in the way.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update. So glad to hear all is well.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your friend. I hope that she's on her way to a successful recovery. It's nice that you were able to be there for her. Looking forward to reading the details of these projects when you have time to blog about them, take your time, life sometimes get in the way but it's understandable. Oh and that cardigan looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of finish is on the black sweater? I have a knit garment very similar and am having a hard time with the hem. Thanks. BTW, love the gingham.
ReplyDeleteJeanGB - it's a black pleather bias binding.
DeleteThank goodness you are okay. I was worried about you. You are such an inspiration to me. I get so excited when I see a post from you.
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice that your readers worry about you.
ReplyDeleteOf the four items you pictured two of them capture my imagination. I don't think I ever would have thought to put the different size checks together, but seeing your red and white shirt just set off a series of ideas in my imagination. The fabric in that butterfly dress is gorgeous. My granddaughter was a Monarch Butterfly two years ago for Halloween. She still loves butterflies.
ReplyDeleteSorry work is so crazy busy that it's keeping you away from the sewing cave, but glad to know that everything else is alright.
Thank you for once again sharing and inspiring us.
Glad you are all good! I can totally relate to the work craziness... my busy season is about to start up. Also, love the way your WIPs are looking! Hopefully you'll find more time to sew soon!
ReplyDeleteYou have been one busy girl. I love the red check--so much I think I will make one too. thanks :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're okay. Your red blouse is divine! I'm have such a hard time mixing patterns. You inspire me to try harder.
