I don't know what's going on with me and my sewing but I lost this last weekend due to coming down with the cold from hell! I was laid low for four days...just going back to work today. So there are no completed pieces to show...though I did manage to cut out two cardigans from the new silk jerseys...and after trying on the black & white dress again...I've decided that I just don't like it on me. I hate looking like a stuffed sausage...so Gay if you want it, I will send it to you.
See sewing outside your comfort zone equals wadders...well sewn wadders but wadders nevertheless. I should have stuck with my original plans for the fabric...*sigh*
Just a quick update...hopefully my sewing mojo and my health will be in tune with each other this weekend and I can finally begin to move some of my ideas from my mind to my closet.
...as always more later!
Hey Lady, happy you're feeling much better!!! It amazing how a cold can impede on your sewing and of course your life in general. Can't wait to see what you sew up next. I hate wadders too but they're part of the process. I think I actually might be sewing one up now and will see in a few days. How come an idea always looks perfect in your mind? Guess that can't always be the reality:)
ReplyDeleteI am happy you are feeling better, summer colds are the worse. Good luck with sewing this weekend, I always enjoy seeeing your garments.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon to get back into the sewing. Shame about the last wadder. No point in keeping it if it doesn't make you feel good :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think you look like a sausage at all in the black and white dress. It was very flattering in the photos :) I understand not being comfortable in clothing, though. At least someone else can enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the cold and the wadder. I know we all keep getting told to step out of our comfort zone and experience new things, but I think it's called a comfort zone for a reason - no nasty surprises and time wasted! When sewing time is so precious it makes good sense to do what works and makes us happy. I love the quote from Merryl Streep's character in It's Complicated, "So, I went out of my comfort zone, which I found out if you're really honest with yourself, isn't all that comforting."
ReplyDeleteWell I for one will appreciate your stepping out of your comfort zone - I'll be happy to take that lovely dress off your hands.
ReplyDeleteThis past weekend, I managed to totally mess up the skirt I can make in my sleep. Seriously - I added 2 extra side panels. GAH! g
Look after yourself. The fabric will always wait for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope you kick that cold & get better soon! It's so frustrating sometimes to only have a weekend to sew and then it just zips on by, so I hop you're back to doing everything you would like to soon. :-(
ReplyDeleteSorry you've not been feeling well - but I'm sure you'll be raring to get at the sewing after a little enforced absence. I think that your black and white dress looked lovely but I do understand the feeling that sometimes you just don't feel that a garment is right for you. I've had it happen to me - not only with things I've made but sometimes with clothes that I've bought - I think they're going to be right but they're just not!
ReplyDeleteFeel better my friend. We'll all be here when you get your mojo back. So no worries. Just get better.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. But as far as sewing mojo goes, I've been a sewing maniac recently and won't be doing any sewing for a couple of weeks . . . so I'll send my sewing mojo up to you!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling better. I often fantasize about steping out of my comfort zone, but once I lay the pattern on the cutting table.. reality hits me.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling much better! Can't wait to see what you come up with this weekend!
ReplyDeleteUugh. It's always such a downer when you are excited about a fabric and then the garment doesn't turn out how you'd hoped.
ReplyDeleteFeel better. I hope some sewing lifts your spirits.
Aw darn Carolyn. So sorry about that cold and I guess we all know how bad we feel when one of our dreams don't turn out the way we planned. It's just so dissappointing No sewing going on here either. I just don't feel like it!
ReplyDeletePeople are coughing up lungs in my office--must be something going around. Glad you're doing better.
ReplyDeletethose nasty summer colds are the worst! So glad you seem to be past the worst of it.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself. My DH has had "something" for four weeks. Rest, liquids (of any type!) will help. As for wadders - out of sight out of mind. Life is made up of wadders. Glad you could post again........Lydia
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon. And sew!
