What's Next for October?

First, I need to thank all of the retailers who participated in National Sewing Month by donating a pattern ~ Simplicity Patterns, Cashmerette Patterns, Closet Case Patterns, Blue Dot Patterns and SBCC Patterns. Thank you, thank you thank you!

I'd also like to thank The Dutch Label Shop and Stylemaker Fabrics for their generous discounts this month. I hope you were able to take advantage of them.

Finally Simplicity Patterns has agreed to leave the discount code in effect until October 31st.  So the 20% off discount code "FANATIC16" is still working. If there was anything you wanted from the Simplicity website, you have time to surf on over and pick it up!

During the month of September I've been busy sewing...for my granddaughters. I've also made an outfit for me using some fabric from StyleMakers Fabric that I will share shortly. I didn't want to interfere with the StyleMakers Blog Tour that finishes up this week. I hope you've been following along because some amazing garments have been made with wonderful fabric choices from StyleMaker Fabrics.

So those are the items that are up next on the blog! My daughter and I spent today styling and photographing the little people. It ended up not being as bad as I thought and I got some great pictures ~ 378 to be exact! I've posted a few to Facebook and to Instagram. More will show up here and on Instagram.

Look for those blog posts later this week. Just so this isn't a picture-less post, here are a few outtakes!

...as always more later!

  7. How are you at all productive when those cuties are around!?!

You really decked them out for fall! SUPER cute outfits! I have that floral denim so I'm thinking I may make a skirt. I can match the toddlers, no?

  10. Hold on. You know I love you. This is an amazing output, and I'm not knocking your talents or capacity, but.....What's your grandson's name? Why doesn't he get the love? As a boy mom, I gotta wave my hand.

I LOVED sewing for my boys. I still do for them as high school and college kids (the plaid matching for Blondini has been the best skills stretch I do and we are going to start making jeans together this winter). They didn't wear pants with full on fly fronts until they were ....third grade? (probably later, those kids and the sweatpants...) And the endless stream of pajamas!

If he has elected out of this process, I shut my trap. And he is entitled to that. There's always that time frame where they just put up their hands and say NO MOM. And you gotta respect that.

Love it all. You are miraculous in any event.

    1. There was a democratic process here - I took the 2 girls and each of my daughter's sisters took a boy child. Granted the boys ended up with store bought clothing but they did end up with new clothes. AND to be perfectly honest, I'm a girl Mom so I like sewing for little girls sooooooo much more than little boys. Sorrynotsorry! *LOL*

    1. Actually I think Mori is luckier! She understands that her Mom is making her some amazing clothing that she couldn't possible buy at retail. My little people are still at the stage of life where they expect the grown-ups to take care of them. They like getting things made because they feel special but we will see if it lasts. Hey I sewed for my own daughters and only one as a grown-up still wants me to sew for her!

  18. They are soooooo darling ! I sewed for my boys -regular clothes until about 9 or 10. Then Halloween & play costumes through high school.
But the new love of my life so so fun to sew for a granddaughter.
BUT she lives in NYC & her mom doesn't show that she likes the things I make so I'm at a frustrating point!!! It I love living vicariously thru your cuties !!!

    1. Maybe you should ask your daughter what SHE wants for your granddaughter. My sewing choices are based upon conversations with my daughter and what she knows the grandbabies like. Cause I would sew frou frou stuff for them and nothing black cause I'm old fashioned like that!

    2. Thanks I have actually asked my DIL , but don't get a response . I've tried emulating clothing she dresses her in.

Your granddaughters are soooooo cute !

    3. MaryEllen - can I also say that this daughter appreciates the handmade clothing. I wouldn't sew for all of my daughters, they would get gift certificates to buy their children's clothing. I totally realize how blessed I am in this situation.
