Beautiful, lovely, amazingly pretty spring dresses are in magazine ad after magazine ad. Making me long for soft gentle breezes, sundrenched days...and dresses and skirts. Yes, I want to sew a dress so bad I can taste it! And who wouldn't after seeing some of these lovelies:
Calvin Klein Gray Dress
Close-up of the detailing
Anne Klein white dress with lace neckline
Calvin Klein tucked sheath dress
Embroidered cotton dress from Macy's Inc. line
...and these are just the dresses that I had to tear the pages out of the magazines and hang up on my bulletin board. I want ALL of these. My TNT dress pattern, a little creative cutting to the pattern with a little fabric manipulation, and I, too, can have one of these designer dresses! Now all I need is for spring to arrive!
And one quick note ~ work is getting frantically busy (which is a good thing!) but I will be around sparingly in the next couple of weeks.
As always...more later!
I love all of those dresses. They're pefect for spring. I want, I want, I want!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love both those Calvin Kleins (with a slight edge to the grey). Hope you find a way to carve out time for some dress-making!
ReplyDeleteAs a counter to your snow, my part of the PNW is having a freakishly early, non-rainy spring...surely it won't last?...and of course I'm wishing I had more warmish-weather clothes to wear!
Those dresses are gorgeous and looking forward to your versions.
ReplyDeleteI love them all except the black and yellow one from Macys which I just saw today in the store. It looks better in the magazine ad than in person, I thought. And I'm starting a spring dress today... I don't care what the calendar says!
ReplyDeleteGreat looks! Our weather is teasing us today and tomorrow with temps in the 50s!!! But a wintry mix is coming our way toward the end of the week. I love tucks!!
ReplyDeleteThe Calvin Klein tucked sheath dress is fabulous. With what you can do with a dress, Calvin will be eating his heart out!
ReplyDeleteLovely dresses and perfect for your work life. What do you do to preserve your original tnt pattern? I need to do something with my pants pattern.
ReplyDeleteReally like the Calvin Klein grey dress and thew tucked sheath dress. I might have to try creating something like that for myself :)
ReplyDeletewhat is the detail on the CK grey dress exactly? Is it pleating or quilting or....? I like it!
ReplyDeleteOMG Carolyn! We are looking at the exact same dresses! I tore the same pages out! I especially love the coral dress! Either I'm going to knock that one off or go buy it at Dillards!
ReplyDelete@Erica
ReplyDeleteAt least you can buy the dress! :) It only goes up to a size 14 on the Dillards website...so I'm going to have to knock it off!
@Beangirl
I think it's pleating...at least that's what I'm going to do. I have a plan already for this dress as well as fabric so you will be seeing this one sooner, rather than later!
That CK tucked sheath dress is my favorite. Hope we'll get a pattern similar to it.
ReplyDeleteI adore all the details on the dresses! I am adding lace to a dress right now. hopefully it will looks as good as your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting excited about spring dresses too. I love your inspirational picks. The Calvin Kleins are gorgeous and the Anne Klein has got me really wanting a white dress.
ReplyDeleteThose dresses are absolutely lovely. It's never to early to dream of Spring dresses.
ReplyDeleteThose dresses are gorgeous. I love dreaming of spring dresses. Sorry you are having the winter and we aren't.
ReplyDeleteI am so far behind in my winter sewing that I will probably be sewing this summer's dresses next winter! Honestly - all I want to do is make summer dresses at this point; what I've got on the cutting table are wool jersey and the Hot Patterns clutch!
ReplyDeleteMy job got changed yesterday, so dresses here I come. I haven't looked at the spring mags yet. Those dresses are da bomb.
ReplyDeleteI am sooooo craving spring dresses, too. I started one this week. And am planning to get a McCall's dress pattern when they go on sale at JoAnn's Friday.
ReplyDeleteI have the worst case of the February blues. Hopefully some spring sewing will make me feel a bit better.
I can't start thinking about Spring yet. I still have so many cold weather clothes to make!
ReplyDeleteLook at those diagonal details! What beautiful and classic shifts.
ReplyDeleteSpring, come on already!
All your picks are gorgeous, but I LOVE that gray Calvin Klein dress. I may have to start tearing pages out of magazines, what a great source of inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteI'm itching for sping also--suddenly I absolutely must have soft blouses and flowy skirts in my wardrobe. :)
ReplyDeleteThose sheath dresses are lovely too, especially the detail on the CK number!
I love all of those! I'm still okay with another few weeks of chilly weather, but yeah, I'm starting to dream of spring stuff, too.
ReplyDeleteWow! looks fantastic! still those those macy dresses? I know this is a weird question but we have an industrial sewing machine here like this one. http://www.sewingpartsexpress.com/dkn-3-dkn-3bp/ can you actually use it to make clothing for example Sewing Leather? or is it too rought?
ReplyDeleteAll of those dresses look fantastic! I'm so jealous of your sewing skills. Maybe it's time I tried to learn.
