An easy to wear raglan classic is perfect for any occasion. Try this feminine shirt jacket over a sharp blouse for the office or wear it with your favorite jeans for the weekend. This design can be made out of mediumweight to lightweight blouse fabric. This has a convertible collar and features a center back pleat, sleeves that gather into a slim cuff and a shirttail or straight hem.
*When did Butterick get so verbose! *LOL*
Since I don't feel like visiting hair and make-up today, Lulu will be modeling the shirt jacket. Here it is with a RTW tank top:
Back pleat with bartack to emphasize the pleat:

With the sash (not sure I'm going to use it now!):
...and finally here is a pic of my SWAP so far (excuse the wrinkled nude dress, please!):
I presently have a SW Mission Top in a silk crepe laying on the table to be cut out as well as Vogue 7542. I still don't know if I'm going to finish the SWAP in time but I'm working on it.
...more later!
What fun! I love that bold orange print you used for the shirt . . . I was eyeballing it myself but didn't pick it up.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love that jacket
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a very comfortable and versatile shirt and I LOVE the fabric.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the shape of the top with the sash, but I think a more defined belt would really set it off. Lovely work as always!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric you used. I am a sucker for orange. Your swap is impressive so far. It all looks so nice together and professional as well. I am rooting for you to finish in time!
ReplyDeleteYour SWAP looks terrific. I love the colours, especially the shirt jacket.
ReplyDeleteI'm cheering you across the finish line as well... although in part for selfish reasons. I'm behind on my SWAP too and I really hope I can finish.
Love the bright colors!
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is great. I especially like the cuffs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun print and jacket. Good luck, you can finish your SWAP, cheering you on.
ReplyDeleteOh I do like how this turned out! This is another case in which I wouldn't have considered that pattern. Now that I what you've done, I NEED to buy it.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric! It always amazes me how quickly you can sew stuff!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blouse!
ReplyDeleteI love that fabric! Your stash is so enviable...
ReplyDeleteThe jacket looks perfect for when you need a little bit more coverage. And in such a fun print too.
ReplyDeleteI just love this top. I would wear this to death if it were mine!
ReplyDeletePretty jacket. I'd like to see it with white dress or pants.
ReplyDeleteI love your top. And I LOVE your Vogue dress pattern. That's a great dress and I can't wait to see your version.
ReplyDeleteMermie
I still think the shirt jacket is fantastic. I have faith that you will finish the SWAP.
ReplyDeleteI really like your style.
ReplyDeleteBTW - I saw that bold orange print at Mood in LA last week. I didn't look for the price...
Very beautiful and eye catching! I think I like it without the sash (though it's a little harder to tell on the dressform). Either way, it looks great.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you used the fabric to make this topper. Really good job and I know will go well with many of your garments.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun summer jacket!
ReplyDeleteI. Want. That. Fabric. I'm so jealous of that beautiful shirt-jac, Carolyn. Can I have it when you are tired of it?
ReplyDeleteKathryn
Lulu is looking super-glamorous in that fabulous shirt jacket. Oh, now you've got me so wanting a shirt jacket too ...... my summer wardrobe has to have one of these!
ReplyDeleteThe blouse looks great!! I love the fabric, BUT I am in love with Vogue 7542. Thanks!! I am going to find it.
ReplyDeleteSuper fab! Those pops of color are perfect for the nuetral wardrobe - much easier to change the accessory pieces with your mood or fashion's mood.
ReplyDeleteLovely blouse/jacket and can imagine it also with white pants.
ReplyDeleteLove that burst of color.
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is TDF and you've made it justice! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove this jacket. So beautiful. I love that print and your placement was perfect. Hope I get to see it in person some time.
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous coral and white shirt. Love it!
