I spent a very restless day at work...it didn't help that most of the bankers were off-site, so it was a little quiet...and I was a little anxious to get home!
After much huffing and puffing to get the rug down straight...it's been sitting here for over a month waiting for the couch to be purchased and delivered...then moving some stuff around for a photo op...
Here it is so far...me sitting happily upon my new sofa and rug! There are still lamps, another bookcase, two comfy chairs and a coffee table to go in the room before it's done...but I wanted the major pieces (the sofa and the rug) in before I went off and got the coordinating pieces.
So tell me...do you think it's going to look like a big comfy library-type room? Cause that's what I'm aiming for...to be surrounded by the things I love...sewing machines, fabric and books!
I think so. I could happily sit there and knit or read with a cup of tea. Enjoy your "new" room. g
ReplyDeleteYes, the look is working - very appealing! That rug is just wonderful - love the colours.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! What a comfortable yet classy room you're getting! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sofa, and I love, love, love the rug!! Your room looks classic and very inviting.
ReplyDeleteWe just bought a brown leather love seat and chair and it really looks like a den and it is comfy. Books everywhere though...no bookcases yet. It must be a trend!
ReplyDeleteYep this is definitely going to meet your vision. Hope it's not so comfortable that you don't get any sewing done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely couch! I can't wait to see how your living room fills out. congrats on the purchase
ReplyDeleteYou're getting exactly the look you're going for. I love both of your choices.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! Makes me want to play music, have a glass of wine and lay down with a book.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great- definitely worth all the effort! mssewcrazy
ReplyDeleteWorking! Lovely sofa. I love bookcases. In my house they vie for wall space with artwork! Never enough bookcases imop. We redid my dd's bedroom a couple of years ago and added a wall of bookcases 9' tall. (high ceiling) She filled those up in no time flat! Book loving runs in the family. My ds and his wife are planning on turning their living room into a library too. Sewing and reading, what could be better?
ReplyDeleteLibrary type room?!!! Sewing machines, fabrics and books!!! Oh my! A kindred spirit!
ReplyDeleteSounds heavenly--books, fabrics, & sewing machine. Coffee in the am, tea in the afternoon, and wine at night and you're set. I'm green with envy.
ReplyDeleteI love it, classy and comfortable...great job!
ReplyDeleteTina

ReplyDeleteCaroloyn it is wonderful! Everyone needs a comfy space.
ReplyDeletePerfect~ You nailed it~! Love the colors of the rug up against that rich brown leather.
ReplyDeleteLamps are so much fun to shop for... do you have anything in mind?
TOTALLY looks like a comfy library room. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great room it will be. How far in advance shall I call you for tea and some sewing fun...lol
ReplyDeleteI think it looks very comfy. I just want to curl up with a book-a sewing book.
ReplyDelete"Big comfy library-type room" is the very thought that crossed my mind when I saw the photo, before I read the post. Honest! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a great cozy place!
I'm liking it! Yes, I think it will fit your vision perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWhen all of your favorite things surround you, how can you go wrong? This will be a wonderful room.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I love the idea of a library look. You have a great looking rug and couch there. I turned a spare bedroom into a "library' and everybody gets a kick out of sitting in there. It's just a comfy couch, chair, and two floor to ceiling bookcases but it does the trick.
ReplyDeleteIt's ALREADY looking like a 'big, comfy library-type room' - what a great looking room. We bought 2 brown leather loveseats a couple years ago and I was really surprised at how comfy they are...enjoy !
ReplyDeletelooking wonderful - and YES!, I think you're achieving the look you're aiming for.
ReplyDeleteSo, besides sewing books, what type of books reside in your library?
That piece looks Pottery Barn. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the couch & rug. It looks like a great "chill out" room. I love being surrounded by the same things. ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn, just popping in to pay compliments and say Hi! I mentioned your blog in my post today re:blog awards... I know you are recognized often, so don't feel you must respond. But I had to give you props!
ReplyDeleteLovely and comfy.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks great! The rug sure is pretty! Books, yep, next best thing to people for companionship that is! It's shapiing up to be a really comfy room. Good for you! You know, a nice nap on that couch sounds good right now! Power nap b/4 the sewing begins! LoL enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a library, with the hardwood floor under that beautiful oriental, and the dark furniture! And you look so happy, finally having your rug in place and the beautiful sofa! What a happy way to start what promises to be a rainy weekend.
