The August Fabric Giveaway Winner Is...

So there were 366 responses which translated into 37 printed pages.  I had to cut up all of those responses to add to "The Jar" so that I could pick one winner a month until the end of the year.

It took a bit to get them all in the jar!

But first I would like to share about my personal progress.  I had a goal here too and that was not to purchase any more fabric besides my Mood monthly allotment until the end of the year.  I can say that I haven't bought one yard since July 1st.  I really thought it would be a struggle because the way some people self medicate with food, I buy fabric. Having a bad day at work, buy a few yards.  Got a great new idea, buy a few yards. Spending time on the internet, read someone's blog, see what they bought, I'd buy a few yards.

But these last few weeks have been okay I haven't had any great urge to purchase a piece of fabric. I think it's because I keep looking at the views of my newly cleaned sewing room on my iPad to remember that I don't need more.  It also helps that if I get the desire for a piece of fabric I can channel it into my Mood monthly allotment.

Also these views really help...

...because I own ALOT of beautiful fabric...and now some of it is coming to one lucky winner every month until the end of the year.

brown printed ponte, yellow floral rayon challis
textured pink knit, green floral linen

So let's get on with it...this month's winner of four pieces of fabric is....

**Aleksandra Robinson**

Please leave your email address in the comment section by Friday evening (August 16, 2013).  I would like to ship this out on Saturday (along with all the other people I owe fabric too!)  Congratulations!!!!

Next month I'll pick another winner...so if you put your name in the jar you have four more chances to win some of the fabric from my collection.  I will also update you then on my progress with keeping my "no more fabric until 2014" goal!

...as always more later!

  1. Congrats to Aleksandra, she has some lovelies coming her way. And congrats to you on your fabric fast, I haven't vowed not to buy any more fabric but I have managed to only buy a few pieces because I know I have so many great pieces in my stash. Having cleaned it up and reacquaint myself with the stash has really helped

  6. Oh, good for you, Carolyn! I comfort buy fabric, too, and I very much admire your sewing room pics - that's a great way to help yourself stay on track. Your personal store would be a wonderful place to shop!

  9. Very lovely fabrics. Congrats to Aleksandra!!!. I noticed the variety of fabrics. How do you decide on the type of fabrics to purchase? I'm stuck in cotton/linen mode, due to my personal summers(LOL).I did buy some lightweight ponte knit after reading about it on your blog and I did enjoy wearing it as a top. So that is a new type I'll try again.I live in NC and this has been a rainy/humid summer. I would hate to purchase fantastic fabric and end up not being able to wear it due to my heat waves. Your fabrics are deliciously beautiful and so are your garments. Excuse my question if this has been asked/answered previously. I just love your blog, I don't comment but i do check it mostly every day.
    thanks for all you do.

  13. Congratulations Aleksandra!!! Your doing so well Carolyn!! I'm just like you in that fabric soothes many things. From sadness to boredom it's all cured with a few yards, because I can dream of what I COULD make instead of whatever else is on my mind.

  14. Congratulations to Aleksandra! She is getting a nice selection of fabrics.

Your stash looks lovely--it's very well organized. The fabric is very neatly and evenly folded, and elegantly concealed by the white curtains. Are those buttons or shower hooks holding the curtains? It's a very cool idea of concealing/protecting the fabrics from dust.

  15. Keep up the good work, Carolyn! I'm following my rules, too. Stitched/sold 17 yards so far, and bought 2 yards of new. 3 more yards to clear and I can make another purchase! Thanks for the inspiration!!!!

  23. Congrats to Alexsandra.
It looks like you don't have any more shelf space for new fabric and yes, your room looks so pretty with everything neatly in it's place. Good idea to look at it on your Ipad.

  24. I'm impressed! Well done, since July 1!
I cannot wait to become reacquainted with my stash. I've succumbed to a few of the Gorgeous Things emails in the last year, and of course I've purchased some quilting cottons.
Until I get out my fabric I shouldn't oughta buy more! I love the way you've organized your stash. How did you decide to organize by color or fabric type or weight?
Maybe you can come when I get built and help me out with organization. :)
