Pinstripe Magic Pants

I'm thrilled that I've gotten one more pair of pants sewn this month.  This makes my third pair. Which when added to the previous pairs made, and the ones already in my closet, gives me so many more options for cold weather survival.  Comfortable...professional...and warm for cold weather wearing.

Notions:
1.5" wide Soft & Easy Stretch elastic
Rayon polyester designer lining
gray rayon seam binding

Since I'm on a basics kick these are another pair of underlined pants made from my TNT pattern. I used the same construction techniques that I used for the navy blue wool crepe ones and the faded plaid pair

The lining fabric for these pants is a designer leftover that I picked up from a trip to Jomars in PA years and years ago.  There must not have been much of it originally. I only had three yards at 45" wide and I used almost all of it.

The gray pinstriped pants are perfect for work and can be dressed up by adding a jacket (my 60s Inspired Vintage Jacket)...

...or more casually for a regular work day with a RTW twinset...

As you know, it's been extremely cold in my corner of the world lately so these new pair of pants will come in handy!  Next up are the Pinstripe Magic dress and skirt.

...as always more later!

  8. Love the pants and twin set. I would wear that to death. I would love to know where the twin set was from and the necklace if you are inclined to share. That set is just gorgeous all put together. I really love seeing the nice outfits you put together -so very wearable and very attractive.Guess I need to learn to line some pull on pants-never done that as long as I've been sewing.

    1. The twinset is from Jessica London - my other favorite place to get sweaters for my plus size body from! And the necklaces are Bronzo Italia pieces from QVC. Yeah I have a serious QVC addiction going on. *LOL*

    1. Thanks Oona girl - you should pat yourself on the back because you are partially responsible for this happening! And I think it was JayZ at this moment...no one was home and I was blasting it!

  12. I'm loving that jacket with the pants, but the pink and grey is a terrific color combination. I know what you are talking about in terms of 'cold in our corner of the world' (though we can't complain really - at least we are not in a place like North Dakota, where it is much worse right now). But, in this weather, when you have to go out to work (and stand around waiting for the bus or train), there is NOTHING to beat a lined pair of wool/wool blend slacks.

  13. Lovely! I have a question: what method do you use to underline?? Are you handstitching your lining pieces to your outer garment pieces before you sew them up? Do you have a faster method of putting the lining and garment fabrics together?

  14. OK. First, pink and grey is one of my favorite color combos. You look stellar. And, again: pictures are tremendous! You look dazzling. Truly.

  16. wow! you have inspired me to cut into my pinstrip lol! I'm always drawn to pinstrip, it looks so rich looking but scared to venture out into something pinstriped but I took the plunge & bought some navy, now to get the nerve to make something lol! I love the grey! your pants turned out fantastic!
