The picture is a little grainy because
it was shot from my blackberry.
It also helps to have friends who love to decorate because I was totally stumped on how to best use the space in my new sewing room. So I sent the measurements and pics of the room to my friend John, who was designing my original sewing room. In 2 hours he shot me back the following sketch:
He also located some cabinets that have a 6" clearance at the bottom that aren't very expensive. I will use them to store the fabric in...for a fabric closet wall. See I've been majorly stressing about losing my fabric closet...MAJORLY STRESSING! 36 18-gallon bins of fabric is not a collection...it's a stash. And it is an overwhelming stash...but I think these new closets will solve my problem. I can live with the bins until I get together the cash to purchase the closets...just knowing there is a solution has eased my mind!
Tomorrow it's back to Lowes, laying the rest of the flooring, meeting up with the offsite shredding company to shred all of my mail (thanks Elizabeth, I listened!) and then back to the old apartment to finish off the last of the packing. I keep thinking I'm almost done and then come back and see more stuff that needs to be packed up...*sigh*
The movers arrive on Saturday morning so I will be unpacking Sunday and Monday...and back to work on Tuesday. I may or may not post again before then especially since who knows when I'll be sewing again...*sigh*
...as always, more later!
Good luck with your move. The new floor looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and may the force be with you!
ReplyDeleteYes, god luck! I hope you are settled and sewing soon!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - best of luck with the move Carolyn! I find moving house to be an extremely stressful activity - but you seem to be in the groove. I hope that it all goes smoothly. I'm sure that with your organisational ability, it will!
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge undertaking - you are putting down a new floor (it looks GREAT) and moving at the same time? Hope this all passes in a big blur and you get settled soon.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty flooring. Good luck with the move. And I'm happy you've found a way to house your fabric well!
ReplyDeleteWow, someone's taking care of business! Good luck with the rest of your move and flooring.
ReplyDeleteThe new sewing room plan looks great.
Just the thought of my moves ever being this organized makes me smile. Hope your move stays like that!
ReplyDeleteDidn't you just have a move at your job? You are a glutton for punishment or what?
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us posted while you are so busy...we'd miss you if we didn't hear at all.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream/nightmare last night inspired by your post that you are moving. I had a dream that we moved and I had to pack up this entire house by myself. Woke up in a cold sweat. I hope your packing and moving is going much better than mine was. I can't wait to see your fancy new sewing room.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well, you've made a great start!
ReplyDeleteMoving always sucks, IMO, even when it is to improve some situation. But once you are in, whoopee. That new dedicated sewing room will be heaven and if possible, boost your productivity even more. Is that possible?
ReplyDeleteBest of luck! It will all be worth it in the end. (I'm quite jealous of your lovely flooring!)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, moving is always a stressful thing - but at least you have the reward of a new sewing room to look forward to at the end of it. I hope it all goes smoothly and [when you are eventually] ready] I look forward to seeing and reading about your new sewing space :)
ReplyDeleteHugs, and good luck with the move, Carolyn.
ReplyDeletePretty new floor! I'm of mixed feelings on moving. My first thought is "yeeeesh that's alot of work!!". Then I think it's nice to have a chance to start fresh and hopefully get things set up right the first time. I can't wait to see photos.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add that I'm envious of you having movers. So far every time we've moved it's been a DIY effort. Fortunately that's only been twice in mumblemumble years.
ReplyDeleteOh joy, a dedicated sewing room. Keep your eye on the prize and in a few days it will all be done and dusted.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the move. Packing and unpacking seem like a never ending job. I bet that Mountain Dew is your best friend right now. :)
ReplyDeleteThe sketch of your sewing room looks wonderful. You are going to be spending a lot of quality time in that room! Maybe with the snow coming to the NE you can make some time to sew!
ReplyDeleteLove the floor!
ReplyDeleteThinking about you this weekend. Sounds like the majority of the snow/rain will miss you.
Wish I lived close, I LOVE doing the unpacking and organizing.
Good luck with the move. I just have to say HOLY GUACAMOLE! on your fabric store, I mean stash. I have a few totes that have fabric in them, I think they might be 10gallons though. I have found, for me and my no room to move, that space bags have rescued and made more room for me to fill up. I have 4 extra large, 4 large and 6totes and other various bags containing fabric and stuff. I especially love spacebags for my yarn collection.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck on the Move!
ReplyDeleteWow, moving at work AND at home AND a new floor! Lots of changes! Hope it continues to go smoothly and everything fits in place, love the floor and the sewing room looks divine! K
ReplyDeleteWell once the move is over and your sewing room is set, you will be back in the sewing mode quickly. I always find moving stressful; soon it will be a thing of the past.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on move and waiting for a photo of finished room
ReplyDeleteThe new floor is looking great! Hope all goes well with the move. It is so hard to move, but hopefully your new place will feel really good in no time. Try not to overdo it!
ReplyDeleteI've been a wondering how your move was coming along!! Thanks for the update!! Take care for now!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I am liking the flooring! And raised cabinets should work well. Can't wait to see how it comes out :)
