Michael you disappoint me!

Okay do these ads disgust anyone else but me?

Ad 1

Ad 2

Why are the men fully dressed in these ads and the women have it all hanging out?  Gawd, you'd think I was seeing the stills from a rap video!  Michael you know how much I love your design aesthetic but your marketing campaign is disappointing...and that's being kind!

...more later!

  1. The man is dressed for a winter day or cool fall day, and hey I'd be freaking cold in either of those outfits which is besides the point as I couldn't wear either of them anyway. But, still I agree with you. Who is he appealing to here?

  2. The first one is weird to me since he has on an overcoat. The second one, not so much. That could easily be my husband and I on a Fall evening out. I'm subject to leave my coat in the car and make a mad dash for our venue. Oh... and my hemline would be a tad bit longer. ;-) I think it was good display of both his women's and men's lines. *shrug*

  3. Yep, it appears a little nipply out to be so bare!

  4. I can not imagine any woman wearing a low cut sweater on a 55 degree day. I am confused by the overcoat as well because it is not winter either. I do not know what the ad agency was thinking with this concept because I do not get it.

  5. I think most ads these days are somewhat one off. Sometimes I have to ask myself, what was that ad all about--this I usually ask with TV advertisements. There is something quite out of sync with these two ads.

  6. And I thought you were going to comment on the scrawny, knock-kneed model in pic #2

  7. That first picture is awful. If she didn't have that purse, who knows what all would be on display.
Ugh! That is not inspiring at all.

  8. I think the lady in the second picture had about 2 inches of thighs photoshopped off.

  9. In the first pic maybe we are to believe her sweater top is made of cashmere and therefore all the warmth she needs.

As for the second one umm yeah, he has on a turtleneck and she is gallivanting around in a tank top.. go figure.

Advertisement is a euphemism for extreme and guaranteed to grab our attention.

    Snickering at BeeBee's comment.

  10. “When a man gets up to speak, people listen, then look. When a woman gets up, people look; then, if they like what they see, they listen.”Abdul Hamid Ibn Kailan From Facebook.

I see this speaking in the ad. The man doesn't need to say anything it all being said. But the underclad woman is saying a whole lot by her apperance. I find the first image disturbing she seems too thin to be wearing a dress that low cut. It makes me cold just thinking this is a fall day. I know I would not for the sack of fashion not at least have a wrap.

  11. Both of those ads really ticked me off and seem geared to the wrong audience.

  12. I don't know - the guy is foxy, so is the girl. I don't know about anyone else, but i certainly find a guy dressed like that MUCH more foxy than seeing a lot of bare skin! I think the first dress is a little silly, but the second one, there's certainly leg and arm, but it's not super, duper flashy!

  13. Apparently women will buy Kors' stuff because they identify with the "image". "I am modern and lovable (see I wear designer clothes and I have a healthy, prosperous, good-looking man), but I am also vulnerable (pale, skinny, half-naked). Look after me!"

This may be why men do not particularly like the skinny waif type! She hasn't exactly got child-bearing hips and looks like she'd faint if she had to carry a casserole to the table.

I think if we women stopped "buying" these stories, they'd have to change the ads! Personally I wouldn't know a Michael Kors from a hole in the ground (more of a Miyake fan myself, all that sweeping, draping, swirling fabric is positively Empress-like).

  14. At least we sewers have the ultimate revenge of boycotting the products and making our own.

  15. I agree but what bothers me even more is the skinniness of the model.(My computer is only showing me the second picture)

  16. LOL, you are right about the second dress, def! My eyes were only drawn to the fur bag in the first one, LOL, the veganism coming out, but I feel you with the boobs part on the first one but the second one is def off.

  17. See, I'd totally wear the top sweater, but um, I think I'd add a cami. Oh, and a bra, too. ;)

  18. OK...and what man do you know that would be more warmly dressed than you???? In my household, I'd be the one with the wool coat and dh would be sporting shorts!

And you can't say that she has her own personal heater going because she is not even CLOSE to that age.

Thank goodness I sew! Cuz I do love me some Michael Kors. His ads...not so much.

  19. In the first one, the man is selling clothes and the woman is selling sex. Her low v-neck and the unbuttoned skirt form 2 arrows pointing at her... um... yeah. And the placement of the FUR bag? Totally crass in my book. (Apologies if it is equally crass for me to point it out.)

  20. heh heh heh, looks like the girl in the first photo lost her blouse in an impromptu game of poker.
