About Last Night

Saturday Night was the Workroom Social Manhattan Pop Up Swap Meet and Party ~ and what a party it was!

It was a rainy Saturday evening in New York City and everyone must have been on the street or in a cab because it took me over 40 minutes to get there in a cab and *mumble mumble* dollars for the cab...but it was so worth it!

I have pictorial proof ~

Jennifer (Workroom Social) deep in conversation

Sonja (Gingermakes) making a point!

I was so pysched to meet Ojolly who knits the most amazing pieces!

Carol - who made her amazing dress, Wanett (Sown Brooklyn
and Suzanne (Beau Baby)

Amanda, Kelli (True Bias) and Devra (puu's door of time)

and a selfie of me and Fleur who kept telling me
to look up - and NOW I understand what she means!

I met the most lovely woman, Carol from Chicago, who has a blog that of course she told me the name of and of course in a senior moment I've forgotten.  We were having the best conversation when I turned around to say something to someone else and ended up half the party away from you.  I turned around to find you again and you were gone!  So if you read this, please leave a comment in the notes section, I really want to meet up before you leave NYC!

As you can see the event was well attended! At times the noise level was blasting from so many awesome conversations taking place, that I had to lean in to hear the person I was talking to. It was also interesting to see the passerbys stop and look in to see what was going on!  Yes peoples sewing is alive and well in NYC!

I had an amazing time and if you want to see even more pics and have access to Instagram - try #workroomsocialpopup or @workroomsocial.

Afterwards I had dinner with some friends ~ we had such a good time! Hey fried chicken always makes things right, especially when you hadn't eaten all day!  Made it home to Jersey about 1:30am but was still in time to see the end of the LA Clippers/Golden State Warriors game!  Go Clippers!

I hope if you get an opportunity to attend a class at Workroom Social in Brooklyn or another Workroom Social event that you'll attend!  It will be soooo worth it!!!

...as always more later!

    1. I'm not actually a Clippers fan just glad that they didn't let the owners distracting comments prevent them from getting the job done! I am a HUGE fan of Doc Rivers. Loved him since he was a player and thought he did an amazing job with the Boston Celtics.

  12. Best party of the year! Thanks for coming out. As always, I loved seeing you!! I've actually been thinking a lot about our conversation about the look of handmade clothes and assuming a well-made-looking garment IS handmade not RTW. Not sure where I'm going with this, but wanted to let you know that it's still on my mind. Hope you're having a great Monday!

  16. Sounds like a wonderful get-together! One of the things I appreciate about your blog is that you stress both individual craftsmanship and sharing the love of creating with others. I tend to think of sewing as a private hobby endeavor, but you keep reminding us of the sheer fun of sharing with like-minded sewists.
