What is it about spring?

It's coming...I know it is.  I can feel it in the air.  Things are stirring and changing.  It's still light when I leave work in the evenings and it's light at 6:30 am when I'm walking to the bus stop.  Yes, it's coming!  It doesn't help that every magazine and every clothing website are offering up spring duds, too!

So, I'm changing over...thinking less about winter and more about the rebirth - SPRING!  I've decided to sew a couple of things still remaining on my fall/winter list.  They are crying out to be made and in all actuality it won't be warm here for at least another six weeks...so these garments can be sewn and worn.  But yesterday morning on the way to work, I broke down and wrote a preliminary list of items I want to sew for spring.

I will use March to finish off the 3 or 4 items remaining and will start April sewing spring.  I've also made a goal for the months of April & May to mostly use the new spring patterns I've recently acquired.  I think I will use my TNT patterns as "slopers" for the new patterns because I've grown a little tired of them since they've been in heavy rotation this fall/winter season.  Spring is about rebirth and new growth and this season I want the challenge of making some of the newer patterns work for me.

I guess you should stay tuned to see what happens!  *LOL*  I'm off to clear off my sewing table...and finish up the skirt that's been laying there.  Lately, I've had a real skirt thing going on so expect to see a couple more in the next few posts...one even involving a new pattern!

Parting Shot:
Somehow I ended up with this pattern in a size 8-10-12-14.

My daughter already has a copy of the pattern so if you don't own it and would like it ~ leave a comment including your email address.  I'm going to be strict about the email addy, no email address in the post and you won't be considered to win the pattern.  I will use the random generator to pick a number Monday evening and will mail it out next week - and I'm willing to ship internationally.

...as always, more later!

  3. Carolyn, I'd love to have that pattern! This week was the first week to feel like spring here in Southern California. When I first moved here from the midwest, it seemed as if there weren't seasons, but now that I've been here a while, I can see subtle changes. The air seems fresher, and plants seem to get new growth in the spring. I"m hoping those of you in the east finally get some relief from your long winter.

  7. Oh, that would be perfect for my 15yo daughter. It could be a casual spring dress and she is into the military styling right now.

How did I miss that one?

    Thank you!

  11. You are so sweet to include international'ers in your give aways! I am not participating, I don't wear dresses, but it sure looks nice.

  12. Isn't that the pits when you think maybe a pattern is in your size but isn't! Because I worked at the local fabric shop for many years I ended up with tons of patterns... in all different sizes (mostly cause I have all sorts of sizes in my family). So when you see one that you like and then look at the size and it's not the one you need.... ahhhh not sooo much!
Anyway... please put me into the miss for the give away!
    Thanks

  17. Now that Montreal (seems to be) done with the -20C temps and we're hovering at about 0C now, it's hopeful that spring might be on the way. That would make a great spring/summer dress. Thanks for including international!

  31. Not sure what it is about spring, but yes we're feeling it here, too. I won't be sewing anymore FW stuff, either. I've got a rough list in my head of stuff for SS, but haven't put it on paper yet, I'll probably start this month, but I usually try to wait until April to start pulling out that part of my wardrobe. We can still get snowstorms into the first week of April, so we can't put away all the winter stuff just yet.

  39. It't a cute pattern, but I'll pass. I am wondering though, what did you make your spring sewing list on? Is that a Nook? And what did you use to create a list that looks like notebook paper with lines and margins? I'm not sure I am ready to replace my Palm yet, but it seems to get harder for me to read all the time. It's time for me to do some serious research.

  40. I had convinced myself that I will sew winter clothes til the temps hit 60, but reading others blog and their spring sewing is making me think about spring sewing So I need to start sifting through my stash. My plan is to start with short sleeve suits.
